Atrophic vaginitis causes

 Atrophic Vaginitis Causes

Estrogens normally maintain normal blood flow to the vagina by thickening the vaginal lining and keeping the surface of the vagina moist. Common causes of low estrogen levels and the development of atrophic vaginitis include menopause, ovarian removal, chemotherapy or radiation therapy, ovarian dysfunction, use of certain medications that can block estrogen, childbirth, and hormonal imbalances.

Menopause

Menopause is the most common cause of  Vaginal atrophy Dryness in Dubai in women. When women go through menopause, the level of estrogen they produce decreases by about 95%.Also, estrogen levels tend to decline with age, making low estrogen levels worse.

Removal of the ovaries

Removal of both ovaries, for example to treat or prevent the development of ovarian cancer, significantly lowers estrogen levels in women and can lead to atrophic vaginitis. The ovaries are the main source of estrogen, so removing one or both ovaries in a surgery called an oophorectomy reduces estrogen levels.

Chemotherapy or Radiation Therapy

Chemotherapy or radiation therapy used to treat pelvic cancer can damage the ovaries, reduce their ability to produce estrogen, and possibly lead to atrophic vaginitis.

Ovarian Dysfunction

A condition in which the ovaries stop working, called primary ovarian failure or premature ovarian failure, causes the ovaries to stop working before age 40.When this happens, estrogen levels drop, similar to what occurs during menopause. Due to low estrogen levels, women with this condition tend to develop atrophic vaginitis.

Contraceptives

: such as medroxyprogesterone acetate (Provera)
For some uterine disorders: such as danazol (Cyclomen) or leuprolide (Lupron)
For breast cancer: such as tamoxifen (Soltamox)
Childbirth
Shortly after childbirth At childbirth, women have due to hormonal changes in the body lower estrogen levels. Breastfeeding can also lower estrogen levels, making the problem worse.

Treatment and Prevention Options for Atrophic Vaginitis

Treatment options include lubricants and lubricants, increased sexual activity, vaginal estrogen therapy, and oral medications to increase the effects of estrogen in the vagina.

Vaginal Lubricants

Vaginal Lubricants are available in pharmacies and should be used regularly, at least once a week, and not just during intercourse. Examples include:

Replens
Me Again
Vagisil Feminine Moisturizer
Feminease
K-Y SILK-E

Sexual intercourse or masturbation

Increasing these activities may reduce symptoms of vaginal atrophy due to increased tissue stretching, vaginal discharge, or improved blood flow. Some women may not tolerate intercourse due to pain or irritation.

Vaginal Estrogen Therapy
Estrogen therapy may be helpful for women with atrophic vaginitis in whom vaginal lubricants and lubricants do not adequately relieve symptoms. Vaginal estrogen use can help relieve symptoms without systemic side effects. There are many forms of vaginal estrogen therapy, for example:

vaginal tablet (Vagifem)
vaginal ring (Estring)
estrogen creams for application to the vagina (Premarin, Estrace)
